About Me
Roxanne C. Oriel, MD, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Serena and John Liew Division of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Kravis Children’s Hospital. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine, followed by a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences from Boston University School of Medicine.
Driven by a passion for travel and global health, Dr. Oriel pursued her medical education through St. George’s University School of Medicine’s Global Scholars Program, training in England, Grenada, and New York. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York and a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the Hofstra School of Medicine, Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. In 2017, she joined the internationally renowned Jaffe Food Allergy Institute at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Oriel devotes approximately two and a half days per week to clinical care, with the remainder of her time focused on teaching and research. Her research centers on therapies for food allergies and is driven by a passion for improving patients’ daily lives through meaningful, practical gains. She is actively involved in clinical trials of epicutaneous, sublingual, and oral immunotherapy, as well as a novel peanut vaccine, and currently leads the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI) Adverse Reactions to Foods Committee’s Mild Food Allergy Workgroup.
In recognition of her excellence in patient communication, Dr. Oriel received the Cullman Family Award for Excellence in Provider Communication in both 2023 and 2024. In 2024, she ranked in the top 5% nationally (95th percentile) for provider communication among more than 117,000 providers surveyed, placing her among just 89 Mount Sinai providers recognized in the Press Ganey 2023 patient experience surveys.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
