About Me
Dr. Roxanne C. Oriel is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She graduated with both a BS in Biological Sciences and BA in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine. She then earned her MA in Medical Sciences from Boston University School of Medicine. Her love for travel and adventure led her to pursue medical training internationally, in England, Grenada, and New York through St. George’s University School of Medicine Global Scholars Program. Thereafter, she completed an Internal Medicine residency in New York at Lenox Hill Hospital and fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the Hofstra School of Medicine, Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. After graduating in 2017, she joined the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Oriel sees patients in the clinic 2 ½ days per week and spends the rest of her time teaching and conducting research. She is especially interested in investigating therapies for individuals with food allergies. She has been involved in several epicutaneous immunotherapy clinical trials for milk and peanut and is currently investigating the safety of a vaccine for peanut allergy. She is actively involved in the Adverse Reaction to Foods Committee of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI). In 2023 and 2024, she was awarded the Cullman Family Award for Excellence in Provider Communication. This award has honored Mount Sinai Health System physicians and advanced practice providers who demonstrated exceptional communication in clinical practice. In 2024, out of over 117,000+ providers surveyed nationwide, she was one of 89 Mount Sinai providers who ranked in the top 5% nationally (the 95th percentile) in provider communication measured in Press Ganey 2023 patient experience surveys.
