Dr. Ruben Olmedo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the ICAHN School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. As the Director of the Division of Toxicology and the Director of Customer Service and Wellness, he is an integral part of the Department of Emergency Medicine through his clinical, administrative, educational and research contributions. He is a member of the American College of Medical Toxicology and of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and a Fellow Educator of Mount Sinai’s Institute for Medical Education.

Research
My research interest lies in all aspects of illicit drug use, dependence, tolerance and withdrawal and in the critical care of the poisoned patient. The Division of Toxicology is currently engaged in phase 2 clinical trial with the Department of Neuroscience in using cannabidiol for reduction of craving in opioid dependence.

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs.
