About Me
Dr. Rumana Sultana joined Mount Sinai as board certified oncologist in 2018. After graduating with her medical degree from Sir Sallimullah Medical College in Bangladesh, she moved to the USA for her residency in Internal Medicine at Brooklyn Hospital Center, as well as a Research Fellowship. To finish her training, Dr. Sultana completed her fellowship in Hematology & Oncology, where she served as Chief Fellow in her final year at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. Dr. Sultana is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology and can communicate with her patients in English, Bengali, Hindi and Urdu.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Sultana has conducted extensive research in the area of Oncology. She is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Sultana articulates her fundamental approach to patient interaction as follows: "Extend the same level of care to your patients as you would to your own loved ones." In her practice, she fosters an environment akin to friendship, wherein she maintains a supportive role while tailoring her approach to patient care and treatment. Within her specialty, she holds a deep appreciation for the pioneering interventions that have significantly enhanced both survival rates and the quality of life for each individual under her care.
Outside of her time with patients, Dr. Sultana enjoys singing classical songs and playing different musical instruments. She also spends her time reading literature and traveling.
