Ryan Chuang, MD
About Me
Dr. Ryan J. Chuang, MD, MPhil began practicing Urology in 2023 and joined Mount Sinai in the same year. After earning his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, he continued there with a residency in Urology. He completed his training with a fellowship in Robotics and Urologic Oncology with world-renowned robotic surgery pioneer Dr. Jim Porter of the Swedish Urology Group in Seattle, Washington.
As a board-eligible urologist, Dr. Chuang's clinical interests include robotic and minimally-invasive surgery, treatment and management for kidney cancer including partial and retroperitoneal nephrectomies, and minimally-invasive and focal treatments of prostate cancer.
Dr. Chuang graduated summa cum laude with a dual degree in bioengineering and human biology from UCSD and completed a master’s in applied mathematics from Cambridge University. During his residency, Dr. Chuang completed a year of research concentrating on focal therapy for prostate cancer including HIFU and cryoablation, as well as advanced prostate imaging. He is well-published in many of the top scientific journals including Science and Nature Research as well as in several prestigious journals in his field, including the Journal of Urology, Urology, and Urologic Oncology.
In his professional community, Dr. Chuang is a member of the American Urological Association and the North American Robotic Urology Society. He is also involved in academia teaching senior urology and general surgery residents at the Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital.
Dr. Chuang is bilingual and can communicate with his patients in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
