About Me
Samuel Sondheim, MD MBA, (he/him) is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and the Associate Medical Director for the Mount Sinai Morningside Emergency Department. Dr. Sondheim also serves as co-leader of the EMS and Disaster Medicine Scholarly Track for the Mount Sinai Emergency Medicine residency program, and leads the Emergency Medicine Quality Project Approval Committee, helping to streamline quality projects.
Dr. Sondheim’s academic and operational work focuses on the intersection of emergency department operations, healthcare leadership, disaster preparedness, and prehospital care. His research has been published and presented nationally with a focus on emergency department operations, disaster readiness, and EMS systems. He is actively involved at both the national and state levels, recently serving as Chair of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) Disaster Medicine Group and as a member of the New York State EMS Council Innovations and Research Committee. In 2024, he was recognized with the New York American College of Emergency Physicians (NY ACEP) Young Leadership Award and completed the NY ACEP Leadership and Development Fellowship in 2025-2026.
Dr. Sondheim earned his MD and MBA from Quinnipiac University. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West, where he served as Chief Resident. He further completed a combined fellowship in Disaster Preparedness and Healthcare Leadership at the Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West.
