
Saniya Tabani, PhD
About Me
Dr. Saniya Tabani is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a licensed clinical psychologist at the Child and Adolescent Complex Care Team in the Faculty Practice at Mount Sinai Hospital. She specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents, young adults, and families using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Dr. Tabani’s expertise include evaluation and evidence-based treatments for anxiety, depression, mood disorders, disruptive behaviors, emotional dysregulation, noncompliance, ADHD, trauma, suicidal and non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideation, and personality disorders. She has also received extensive training in pediatric/health psychology and works with patients and families to tackle difficulties with adjusting to chronic illness, somatic symptoms, medication adherence, and functional encopresis. Dr. Tabani strives to work with a lens of cultural competence and sensitivity, and provide affirming care to individuals and families.
Dr. Tabani received her Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology from St. John’s University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship training at Mount Sinai Morningside, where she received advanced training in comprehensive DBT, her pre-doctoral internship at Geisinger Medical Center, and clinical externships at Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants and Queens Hospital. Dr. Tabani completed her undergraduate education at New York University.
