About Me
Satish Nagula, MD is Program Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital, and is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Dr. Henry D. Janowitz Division of Gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, followed by his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania and his gastroenterology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he also received specialized training in advanced endoscopic techniques.
Dr. Nagula specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic diseases, biliary diseases, and pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions of the gastrointestinal tract (stomach, small intestine, ampulla, colon, pancreas, bile ducts, liver). He specializes in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), fine needle aspiration (FNA), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoluminal stent placement (esophagus, gastroduodenal, colonic), endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and complex polypectomy.
Dr. Nagula is firmly committed to patient care, often seeing patients as second and third opinions for advanced endoscopic procedures, pre-malignant conditions of the GI tract, and complex pancreaticobiliary diseases. He has twice received the Cullman Family Award for Excellence in Patient Communication. He is a local, regional and national expert in these fields, and recently served as President for the New York Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy (NYSGE). He is a well-recognized educator, receiving numerous teaching awards over the past several years, giving invited lectures locally and nationally, and is a committed researcher with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.
