Sean Dhanraj, MD
Emergency Medicine
About Me
Sean Dhanraj, MD (he/him) is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Dhanraj joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2022, after completing residency at Maimonides Medical Center.
Dr. Dhanraj focuses on social determinants of health affecting the lives of current and future patients. During residency, he created a task force aimed at addressing the needs of at-risk members of the community, both in and out of the emergency department. He volunteered his time in free medical clinics and multiple community health events in Brooklyn, guiding his decision to join Mount Sinai Brooklyn as faculty.
As the first member of his family in medicine, Dr. Dhanraj recognized the importance of strong mentors for those beginning careers in medicine, and helped to create a multi-specialty network of physicians and senior colleagues for upcoming medical students and residents to meet and seek advice from. Additionally, recognizing burnout as a significant barrier to a long career of practicing medicine, Dr. Dhanraj has created and participated in multiple physician-led wellness programs, aimed at teaching methods of resilience and decreasing the practical factors contributing to burnout in the workplace.
Dr. Dhanraj is a New York native, growing up in Queens before eventually moving to Brooklyn. He spends his time off-shift traveling and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Dr. Dhanraj graduated from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University – College of Medicine.
