About Me
Sehar Babar, MD is a board-certified Vascular Neurologist, and Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her medical degree at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan, followed by an internal medicine intern year and neurology residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She then completed her fellowship in Vascular Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Babar serves as the Stroke Director at Mount Sinai Brooklyn, where she leads acute stroke care, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary cerebrovascular services. Her clinical practice focuses on ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, complex and rare cerebrovascular disorders, and advanced neuroimaging-based decision-making. She is committed to expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based stroke care across the Mount Sinai system.
Her research centers on cerebrovascular disease mechanisms, interventional complications, and acute stroke therapeutics. She has authored peer-reviewed publications in the Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, Journal of Neuroimaging, and JVIN. She has presented her work at major international forums, including the European Stroke Organization Conference, the International Stroke Conference, and the World Stroke Congress. Her academic work has been recognized with honors such as the American Society of Neuroimaging Best Abstract Award and the European Stroke Organization Best Poster Award. Dr. Babar also serves as a reviewer for leading neurology journals and continues to develop research in imaging biomarkers, reperfusion strategies, and predictors of stroke outcomes.
