About Me
Dr. Sergey Khaitov is a board-certified colorectal and general surgeon and Associate Professor of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He also serves as Surgical Co-Director of the Susan & Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinical Center, a multidisciplinary hub for advanced treatment of complex gastrointestinal disorders.
Dr. Khaitov earned his medical degree from Donetsk State Medical University, had his surgical training at Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem and then completed both his general surgery residency and fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care and educating individuals and families about their conditions and treatment options. His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures for a wide range of colorectal conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, and benign anorectal disorders. He has particular proficiency in restorative J-pouch creation for patients with ulcerative colitis, offering surgical solutions tailored to long-term quality of life.
