About Me
Sharon M. Edwards, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Education and she is the Program Director for the Adolescent Medicine Fellowship at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center. She is also the Director of the Teen Parenting Program which provides care to young parents and their children in a multi-disciplinary setting. As an adolescent medicine specialist, Dr. Edwards provides comprehensive care for adolescents at the nationally known Adolescent Health Center. Her research has focused on contraception in adolescents and novel methods to improve adherence with birth control methods.
Dr. Edwards serves as the Vice Chair of Strategic Community Engagement for the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital. As the chairperson and founding member of the Department of Pediatrics Committee on community engagement, she has helped to recruit and retain applicants at both a resident and faculty level. Dr. Edwards is one of the faculty advisors at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and guides a cohort of medical students and teaches at the medical school.
