About Me

Shaun M. Honig, MD MBA is the Site Chair of Radiology at Mount Sinai Brooklyn, and is Assistant Professor of Radiology in the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.  As an undergraduate he attended Brandeis University, where he was a Presidential Scholar and received a Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude with Highest Honors in Health Policy.  He then attended the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he was also awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute research award as well as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Continuing Education award.  He graduated with distinction from Mount Sinai in 2004, and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Honig completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology in 2009 at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, and went on to complete a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Mount Sinai in 2010. After fellowship, he joined the staff at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn as Attending in Interventional Radiology, and then was named Associate Director of Interventional Radiology and Image Guided Medicine at Maimonides, a position he held until October, 2017.  He joined the Mount Sinai Faculty in October, 2017 at the Site Chair of Radiology at Mount Sinai Brooklyn.

Dr. Honig has a broad interest and expertise in minimally invasive image guided intervention including percutaneous biopsy and drainage, percutaneous biliary, genitourinary and gastrointestinal intervention, as well as minimally invasive treatment of primary and metastatic liver and kidney cancer using radioembolization, chemoembolization, and thermal ablative techniques.  He also focuses on women’s intervention including Uterine Fibroid Embolization and pelvic congestion.

Dr. Honig has authored and co-authored numerous peer review publications and has presented research in the field of Interventional Radiology at meetings around the world.  He also holds multiple patents on medical devices, and received an MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in May, 2017.  In addition to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, he is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Radiologic Society of North America, and the American Roentgen Ray Society.  He is board certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic and Vascular and Interventional Radiology.
