About Me
Dr. Shelly Rivas has been practicing as a board-certified Dermatologist since 2017, joining Mount Sinai Doctors in 2024. After completing her undergraduate studies at Yale University, Dr. Rivas earned her medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital before completing her residency in Dermatology at Northwell Health. During her final year of residency, Dr. Rivas served as Chief Resident. Her past research and publications have focused on skin inflammation, acne, and skin of color.
Dr. Rivas is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the Women's Dermatologic Society. Her clinical interests include treating patients 12 and older for general and medical dermatology, skin cancer, and infectious diseases. Dr. Rivas is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese.
Outside of her time with patients, Dr. Rivas enjoys travel and exploring the outdoors. She has completed medical mission trips abroad and has participated in clinical projects in Kenya, Thailand, Brazil, and Mexico.
