About Me
Shirish Huprikar, M.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine.
As Director of the Transplant Infectious Diseases Program since 2003, Dr. Huprikar has developed a program dedicated to the prevention and management of infectious diseases in solid organ and bone marrow transplant recipients as well as other immunocompromised hosts. Under his direction the program provides the following services: collaboration with each individual transplant program to provide excellent clinical care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting; educational support for each individual transplant program to ensure that the clinical practices meet the standard of care; expertise to develop guidelines for the prevention and management of infections for each individual transplant program; innovative research initiatives that advance the field and improve the care of our patients.
As Associate Program Director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program since 2001 and as Program Director since 2008, Dr. Huprikar has established Mount Sinai's program as one of the most competitive in the nation. The program offers a most diverse clinical experience combined with a comprehensive educational curriculum and mentored research curriculum.
Dr. Huprikar has received numerous teaching awards from the Department of Medicine and was recognized by the institution for his clinical work with the Solomon Silver Award in Clinical Medicine. He has mentored and trained over 20 infectious diseases fellows, internal medicine residents and medical students.
Dr. Huprikar's research interests include solid organ transplantation in HIV-infected patients, invasive fungal infections, the prevention and management of post-transplant CMV infections, and resistant bacterial pathogens.
Dr. Huprikar received his M.D. from Northwestern University and then trained in medicine and infectious diseases at The Mount Sinai Medical Center before joining the faculty in 2001.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Huprikar has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
