About Me

Shu Min Lao, DO is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at Mount Sinai. She earned her medical degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYIT-COM), where she was honored with the Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement. Dr. Lao completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai West & Morningside, followed by a fellowship in Rheumatology at Mount Sinai Hospital.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Lao is involved in medical education, serving as a small group facilitator and an instructor in arthrocentesis simulation training. She is also certified by the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR) in musculoskeletal ultrasound for both diagnosis and treatment. Her clinical interests include management of rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, crystal induced arthritis, connective tissue diseases and vasculitis.
