About Me

Shu-wei Hsu, MD is a board-certified neurologist and epileptologist who specializes in epilepsy diagnosis and treatment. She has a passion for caring for patients with seizures. In her practice, she provides epilepsy education, neurological evaluation, diagnostic tests, medication management, care coordination, inpatient epilepsy monitoring, as well as surgery planning when needed. Her goal is to minimize the impact of epilepsy on her patients’ physical and mental health, as well as empowering them with medical resources to improve their daily life and overall wellness.

In addition to epilepsy, Dr. Hsu also sees patients with general neurological conditions including but not limited to syncope, headache, migraine, and dizziness.

Dr. Hsu completed her neurology residency and epilepsy fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Montefiore Medical Center. She received the Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students Award at graduation. Dr. Hsu believes that through developing younger physicians, experienced physicians are able to further move the field of epilepsy forward to improve patient care in the future.

Dr. Hsu enjoys working with patients of all backgrounds, irrespective of ethnicity, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. She believes every patient should receive the best care possible and is dedicated to minimizing healthcare disparity.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.

Industry Relationships

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
