About Me

Dr. Shyam Amin is a cardiologist at Mount Sinai Heart and an assistant professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Medicine (Division of Cardiology) at the Zena and Michael A. Weiner Cardiovascular Institute of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is seeing patients at Mount Sinai Union Square and at the Mount Sinai Heart offices in midtown Manhattan and in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. He sees patients both in-person and by telehealth in clinic, and he also attends on the inpatient services at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.

Dr. Amin was born in Merrick, New York and completed his undergraduate education at New York University. He attended Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where he graduated in 2012. He completed Internal Medicine Residency at New York University Langone Medical Center. He then completed his Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Vascular Imaging, and Cardiac CT Imaging.

Dr. Amin’s goal in clinical practice is to provide exceptional care both to patients with cardiovascular diseases and to healthy patients looking to prevent the onset of disease. He utilizes multimodality diagnostic testing to identify patients at highest risk and aims to implement early intervention with dietary and lifestyle counseling, along with medications as needed, to limit the prevalence and severity of heart disease. He is a born and raised New Yorker, though he uses every chance he can to travel across the country and around the world. He is a marathon runner and believes strongly in leading the same healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise that he promotes to his patients.

The state of Florida requires out-of-state professionals who are registered to provide telehealth services to display a hyperlink to the Florida Department of Health telehealth web page. This allows Florida patients who are receiving medical care by telehealth to confirm the provider’s licensure and Florida registration.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
