About Me
Dr. Chen arrives with advanced fellowship training in head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction, a strong academic background, and a commitment to multidisciplinary cancer care. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a concentration in Visual Arts from Columbia University and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She subsequently completed residency in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery within Mount Sinai, followed by fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction at the University of Washington.
Dr. Chen’s clinical interests include the comprehensive surgical management of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck with expertise in microvascular reconstruction. In addition, she covers the breadth of endocrine surgery and salivary gland lesions and issues. Her background emphasizes multidisciplinary oncologic care, functional and aesthetic reconstruction, and the restoration of speech, swallowing, and quality of life following treatment for head and neck cancer.
Her career also reflects a commitment to academic medicine and clinical research. Dr. Chen has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications spanning head and neck oncology, reconstructive surgery, facial plastic surgery, and surgical outcomes. Her recent research has focused on HPV-associated oropharyngeal cancer, circulating tumor DNA and liquid biopsy for cancer diagnosis and surveillance, reconstructive approaches for complex defects, and multi-specialty management of pregnant cancer patients.
In her new role, Dr. Chen will be seeing patients at our Mount Sinai-Wantagh location and focusing on an expanding role in resident education at Elmhurst Hospital.
