Siobhan Dolan, MD, MPH

Siobhan Dolan, MD, MPH, is the Director of the Division of Genetics and Genomics and System Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

As Director of the Division of Genetics and Genomics, Dr. Dolan is responsible for leading strategic patient care and research initiatives in collaboration with Mount Sinai’s Department of Genetics and Genomics and the Institute for Genomic Health. As System Vice Chair for Research, she leads obstetrics and gynecology research, overseeing the strategic development and administration of the Department’s basic, clinical and translational research programs.

Before joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Dolan was with Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center, where she held roles in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive genetics since 2001. Most recently, she served as Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women’s Health. While at Einstein, she was Chair of the Committee on Admissions and a member of the steering committee for Diversity and Inclusion.

Dr. Dolan’s work has been extensively published in peer-reviewed journals and publications. Her research includes a focus on the integration of genetics into maternal child health, including prenatal screening, newborn screening, and the prevention of complex birth outcomes such as preterm birth and birth defects.

Currently, Dr. Dolan serves as a medical advisor to March of Dimes, where she works to improve the health of children by preventing birth defects, preterm birth, and infant mortality. An active member of several professional organizations, Dr. Dolan serves as a representative on the Secretary of Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Heritable Disorders in Newborns and Children and the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) Program at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She serves as a planning committee member for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s plan to develop Strategies to Scale Up PrEP Availability in Medical Care Settings and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Committee on Ethics.  Dr. Dolan is the recipient of the 2018 Award for Exceptional Commitment to Teaching from the Joan H. Marks Graduate Program in Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College.

Dr. Dolan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society of Human Genetics, and the New York Obstetrical Society.

Dr. Dolan graduated magna cum laude with honors from Brown University. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completedher residency in obstetrics and gynecology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and Yale New Haven Hospital. She went on to complete a fellowship in clinical genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Dolan also holds a master’s degree in public health from the Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University.
