Sky Lilou Kihuwa-Mani
About Me
Sky is a third-year (G1) MD-PhD student from Raleigh, North Carolina. She completed her Honors BS in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with full Honors through the Lloyd International Honors College. Her honors thesis investigated the physiological properties of unused muscles in bullfrogs when oxygen demand is met by cutaneous respiration. She also worked with ALSUntangled, which publishes efficacy reviews of alternative and off-label therapies to treat Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). With an interest in Surgery and Regenerative Medicine, she is completing her PhD in the lab of Michael Rendl.
As an MSTP student leader she has served on the retreat committee, assisted with MSTP admissions, administers the annual program-wide survey, and serves as the MSTP-at-large Representative on Student Council. She also serves as a co-president of the Association of Native American Medical Students (ANAMS) Sinai chapter and works on clinical research in Endocrinology and Plastic Surgery.
