Smita Nikam, MD
Smita Nikam, MD is a Primary Care Physician with Mount Sinai Doctors, seeing adult patients at the 55 East 34th Street multispecialty practice.
Trained in New York and Pennsylvania, she is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Nikam was awarded her medical degree from Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College, Pune, India and completed residency in Internal Medicine at Geisinger Medical Center, where she served as a primary care physician and a living-donor physician advocate for Geisinger Kidney Transplant Program. In her role as the Chief Medical Officer at Mundaii she led multiple quality improvement projects including improving access to medical care.
Dr. Nikam has previously been awarded the top patient experience physician, based on Press Ganey score, while working in the Geisinger system. Her clinical interests include preventive medicine, diabetes, hypertension management and women’s health. She has a particular interest in working at the intersection of medicine and digital health technology.
Dr. Nikam serves her profession in many capacities, as General Internal Medicine physician, member of Dean’s Advisory Board at School of Business, LIU Post, New York and speaking engagements including keynote speaker at McGowan School of Business, Wilkes Barre. In her free time, she enjoys endurance running and exploring new places with her family.
