Sofya Pintova, MD

Dr. Sofya Pintova has practiced general Hematology and Oncology with a clinical focus in gastrointestinal malignancies since 2008. After graduating with her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Dr. Pintova completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. She then moved to The Mount Sinai Hospital for her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology. With her board certifications in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, Dr. Pintova specializes in colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, and cholangiocarcinoma.
In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Pintova serves as an Assistant Professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology at The Icahn School of Medicine. She is also involved in the training of medical oncology and surgical oncology fellows, and is a regular lecturer on gastric and pancreatic cancer. Dr. Pintova conducts clinical trials aimed at improving outcomes for patients with her cancer foci and investigates factors that impact goals of care discussions with patients who have advanced cancers. In conjunction with her research, Dr. Pintova has authored a Mount Sinai Expert Guide on gastric cancer and has numerous peer-reviewed publications.
