About Me
Dr. Sofya Pintova has practiced Oncology with a clinical focus in gastrointestinal malignancies since 2011. After graduating with her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Dr. Pintova completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. She then moved to The Mount Sinai Hospital for her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology. With her board certifications in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, Dr. Pintova specializes in colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, and cholangiocarcinoma.
In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Pintova serves as an Assistant Professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology at The Icahn School of Medicine. She is also involved in the training of medical oncology and surgical oncology fellows, and is a regular lecturer on gastric and pancreatic cancer. Dr. Pintova conducts clinical trials aimed at improving outcomes for patients with her cancer. In addition her research is focused on understanding for role of ctDNA in pancreas cancer management and factors that impact clinical trial enrollment in the community.
