About Me

Dr. Shipu is the Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency Training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai/NYC Health and Hospitals (Queens), where he oversees the education, training, and mentorship of future psychiatrists. With a deep commitment to academic excellence and compassionate care, Dr. Shipu brings a wealth of clinical experience and leadership to the role.

Dr. Shipu received his medical degree from Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, Bangladesh, followed by residency training in psychiatry at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, NY. He later completed a fellowship with Public Psychiatry Leadership Program at New York Grossman School of Medicine/NYC Health and Hospitals. 

Dr. Shipu took the initiative and played a major key role in creating and developing an ACGME accredited psychiatry training program at Queens Hospital Center, NY. He is dedicated to creating an inclusive, supportive, and academically rigorous environment. He is particularly focused on curriculum development, resident wellness, and fostering a culture of inquiry and innovation.

In his role as Program Director, Dr. Shipu has been deeply committed to the transformative power of education. A passion for teaching has guided his professional journey, and residents have recognized for his teaching and awarded ‘Teacher of the Year’ several times.
