Sonam Verma, MD
Pediatrics, Pediatric Neurology
About Me
Sonam Verma, MD, is a Child Neurologist and Epileptologist. She is an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is board certified in Pediatrics, Neurology (with special qualifications in Child Neurology), and Clinical Neurophysiology.
She enjoys caring for pediatric patients with a wide range of neurological conditions, including headaches, tics, cerebral palsy, seizures, strokes, demyelinating disorders, metabolic disorders, and neuromuscular disorders. Her special clinical interests include new-onset seizures, neonatal seizures, refractory epilepsy, and epilepsy surgery. With the support of a multidisciplinary team, she strives to provide comprehensive care to patients with poorly controlled seizures through advanced treatment options, including newer medications such as CBD oil, the ketogenic diet, vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), responsive neurostimulation (RNS), and various surgical interventions. She finds strength and fulfillment in seeing her patients thrive.
Dr. Verma completed her pediatric residency at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center in New Jersey, followed by a pediatric neurology fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She then pursued advanced training in Clinical Neurophysiology/Epilepsy at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine. Before joining the Mount Sinai Health System, she served as an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Neurology and Epilepsy at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois.
When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her dog and her family.
She currently sees patients at 10 Union Square East, Suite 5G, and at 1468 Madison Ave, Annenberg Building, 4th Floor. To schedule an appointment at Union Square, please call 212-844-8888. To schedule an appointment at 1468 Madison Ave, please call 212-241-7076.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Verma has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
