About Me
Sonya Brar, MD, is an obstetrician-gynecologist and an instructor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Brar specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology.
For gynecologic care, Dr. Brar provides outpatient procedures, such as colposcopy, endometrial biopsies, IUD placement and removal, and operative hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, among others. Dr. Brar also provides obstetric care for patients delivering at Mount Sinai West, including vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections.
Dr. Brar has been published in the Journal for Genital System Disorders on the topic of Cesarean scar pregnancy. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Brar graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Florida with a degree in biomedical sciences. She earned her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where she served as administrative chief resident. During her residency, she was honored for Outstanding Achievement in the Leadership of Residents with the Teaching Chief Resident Awards. She also is the recipient of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine Resident Award.
