About Me

Stephanie L. Gold, MD is an Instructor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a gastroenterologist at the Mount Sinai Hospital, with a focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and nutrition. Dr. Gold graduated from Weill Cornell Medical College summa cum laude with Distinction in Research and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society. Dr. Gold completed her internal medicine residency at New York Presbyterian, Weill Cornell and fellowship training in gastroenterology at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Gold’s clinical interests include nutrition optimization for patients with inflammatory bowel disease and the use of diet as an adjunct therapy for patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. She has established a unique Nutrition-IBD clinic at The Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, where patients have access to an in-depth nutrition and muscle health assessment as well as dietary guidance and support to complement their IBD care. Dr. Gold’s research on the impact of malnutrition in patients with IBD and the role of diet as a mediator of intestinal inflammation has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has been presented at national and international meetings. Dr. Gold has also served on national committees with the American College of Gastroenterology and is currently the Co-Chair of a committee designed to improve mentorship and medical education for future gastroenterologists.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
