About Me
Stephen Phlaum, MD (he/his) is a board-certified physician in cardiovascular disease at Mount Sinai Doctors-Brooklyn Heights.
Dr. Phlaum completed his medical degree at St Louis University School of Medicine, and internship and residency at Washington University School of Medicine Barnes-Jewish Hospital and a fellowship at St. Louis University School of Medicine in invasive cardiology. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease as well as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honors Society.
Prior to starting medical school, Dr. Phlaum had a private practice in Psychotherapy for almost two decades. This offered him the knowledge, expertise and credentials to establish himself as a member of the heart transplant team serving as a behavioral medicine liaison. He was tasked with the psychological evaluations of potential heart transplant candidates.
His interests include hiking in the mountains, long distance bicycling, kayaking, and playing guitar with blues and jazz musicians. Above all, his life is greatly enriched by his family, his wife, two grown daughters, a granddaughter and a grandson.
