Dr. Steven Fishman is a Board Certified Dermatologist. He was born and raised in Liberty, New York. He graduated from Hobart College cum laude and then attended medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
In medical school, he developed a special interest in Dermatology and published the first of many dermatologic research papers. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Fishman left the New York area to do a residency in Dermatology at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans.
During his residency, Dr. Fishman presented his dermatologic research to the Southern Medical Association, Society of Investigative Dermatology, and the American Academy of Dermatology. In addition, he underwent a great deal of training in dermatologic surgery and dermatologic cosmetic surgery. Dr. Fishman was formerly on the Dermatologic Surgery faculty at Beth Israel Medical Center.
Dr. Fishman is currently on staff as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Mt Sinai School of Medicine. He is on staff at Catskill Regional Medical Center. After a great deal of training in Dermatologic Surgery and Dermatologic Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Fishman studied under many of the pioneers and leaders of these subspecialties including William Coleman III, MD, John Yarborough, MD and Elizabeth McBurney, MD.
Dr. Fishman has studied all aspects of Dermatology but has developed a special expertise in Skin Cancer Surgery. He can evaluate all skin lesions and recommend the best method of therapy. Most dermatologic surgery is performed under local anesthesia in an ambulatory office setting. Dr. Fishman has performed well over 100,000 procedures.
