About Me
Dr. Steven Berman began practicing as a Urologist in 1986 and joined Mount Sinai Doctors in 2023. After completing his undergraduate studies at Yeshiva University, Dr. Berman earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Brooklyn. Dr. Berman then pursued both his internship in General Surgery and his residency in Urology at Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center. With his board certification by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Berman's clinical interests include general urology and prostate cancer screening.
In his professional community, Dr. Berman is a member of the American Urologic Association (AUA), the New York section of the AUA, and the New York Medical Society. Dr. Berman also plays a role in academia where he teaches in the Department of Urology at The Icahn School of Medicine.
Dr. Berman has published multiple papers in prestigious medical journals within his field of Urology. The topics of these publications include urachal remnants in adults, continence mechanisms following transphincteric urethroplasty, and preliminary results of radiation therapy for prostate cancer in HIV positive patients.
When discussing his time as a Urologist, Dr. Berman explains, "Urology is a perfect combination of medical practice, evaluating patients, regular follow ups and screenings with surgical intervention when needed. Most important, there is continuation of care and development of a close relationship with patients and their families, frequently for many years."

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Berman has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
