About Me
Dr. Steven Neustein is Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Neustein graduated from college at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and from medical school at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Neustein did an internship at Overlook Hospital, in Summit, New Jersey. Dr. Neustein then did a residency in anesthesiology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Dr. Neustein has served in the Department as the Chair of the Equipment and Drug Committee, and has been a long standing member of both the departmental Performance Improvement Committee, and the Clinical Competence Committee.
Dr. Neustein has taught airway management, and thoracic anesthesia at the annual national anesthesiology meetings, and has also been a grand rounds speaker at other institutions. Dr. Neustein has authored or co-authored over 100 publications, which include both original articles and book chapters.
Dr. Neustein has been the recipient of multiple awards, including The Mount Sinai Master Clinician Award, and twice received the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award. Dr. Neustein has received The Outstanding Senior Faculty Teacher in the Department of Anesthesiology multiple times. Dr. Neustein has also been recognized by the Mount Sinai Center for Excellence in Youth Education for dedication to the advancement of scientific knowledge, skills, and careeer awareness of youth in the New York City Public Schools.
