About Me
Dr. Kini is the Director of the Institute of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Mount Sinai Morningside. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. and also the Director of the Bariatric Fellowship at Mount Sinai Morningside.
After training in general surgery in the United Kingdom, he went on to do a laparoendoscopic fellowship at the Welsh Institute of Minimal Access Therapy in Cardiff, UK. Dr. Kini is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of England, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. After completing a laparoscopic research fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and a laparoscopic clinical fellowship at New York Medical College, Dr. Kini joined the faculty of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in the Division of Laparoscopic Surgery at Mount Sinai in 2004.
Dr. Kini has been performing advanced laparoscopic surgery since 1995. His practice is focused primarily on advanced laparoscopic bariatric surgery, anti-reflux surgery and advanced laparoscopic general surgery including robotic surgery. Dr. Kini is currently performing research in several areas of minimally invasive bariatric procedures and antireflux surgery.
Dr. Kini is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He also serves on the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) Resident Committee and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Research Committee. He was named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
