Swati Gupta, PhD
About Me
Swati Gupta is a Neuroscience postdoctoral fellow in the laboratories of Dr. Deanna Benson and Dr. George Huntley . Her research is focused on understanding how a Parkinson’s Disease risk mutation (LRRK2 G2019S) impacts glutamate receptor trafficking dynamics.
She obtained her PhD in Neuroscience from the lab of Dr. Farah D. Lubin, University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her thesis work focused on understanding the role of histone methylation in the medial temporal lobe during long-term memory formation. She then went on to pursue her postdoctoral research in the lab of Dr. Josef T. Kittler, University College London, where she investigated the role of Nischarin in regulating glutamate transporter trafficking at the synapse.
During her postdoc at Mount Sinai, Dr. Gupta has been recipient of the NIH WIST fellowship and a Rainwater Tau Leadership fellow. In addition to her research, Dr. Gupta has been involved in teaching graduate and medical school courses and is a member of the Neuroscience Postdoctoral Association.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Gupta has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
