About Me

Sylvia Klineova, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Klineova received her medical degree at the P.J.Safarik University in Slovakia graduating magna cum laude. She completed her neurology residency in University Hospital of J.A.Rayman in Presov, Slovakia and after relocation to US and completion of the USMLE re-certification process; she completed her internship and second neurology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.

Dr. Klineova then continued her graduate education at the Corinne Goldsmith Dickinson Center for Multiple Sclerosis as a Sylvia Lawry Grant awarded fellow. During her fellowship training Dr. Klineova also earned a Master’s Degree in the field of clinical research.  She joined the neurology faculty at Mount Sinai Hospital following completion of her fellowship in 2014.

Dr. Klineova has a clinical practice at the Corinne Goldsmith Dickinson Center for Multiple Sclerosis as well as Mount Sinai West where she cares for patients with multiple sclerosis, neuro-sarcoidosis, and neuromyelitis optica. She is also heavily invested in community service providing care to a large under-privileged multiple sclerosis patient population at the Mount Sinai West. 

Dr. Klineova is involved in clinical research and currently serves as a principal investigator on several clinical research studies. Her ongoing research projects include studies on the use of advanced optical and MRI imaging in MS. Additionally, her research focus also includes topics of multiple sclerosis in African-Americans and the role of psychological resilience in multiple sclerosis.

Dr. Klineova has published her work in peer reviewed medical journals and has presented at national and international conferences including ECTRIMS and the AAN. She is also the author of “Living and Thriving with Multiple Sclerosis," a handbook dedicated to newly diagnosed MS patients.
