About Me
Tara Rao MD, FAAD is a board certified dermatologist. Dr. Rao’s interests are in general dermatology and dermatologic surgery with specializations in laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology.
Dr. Rao graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) and she received her medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine. She spent a year conducting research at the National Institutes of Health (N.I.H), one of the world’s foremost medical research centers, where she studied rare inherited skin disorders, including those with a propensity for UV-induced skin cancer. She completed a rigorous dermatology residency at the prestigious UT Southwestern Medical Center where she received the Department Award for Humanism and Professionalism. Following her residency, Dr. Rao was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at UT Southwestern. Since then, she has moved to Manhattan where she has been in private practice and currently serves as Volunteer Faculty at the Mount Sinai Hospital, where she teaches Dermatology Residents.
