About Me
Dr. Teresa Attina began practicing as an Internist in Europe in 2003 before moving to the US in 2010, and beginning to practice in the States in 2021. After completing her medical studies at the University of Catania in Italy, Dr. Attina remained at the institution for her residency in Internal Medicine. She then practiced in the UK for several years before earning her PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She moved to New York University (NYU) where she earned her Master's in Global Public Health. A few years later, Dr. Attina finished her training with a residency in Internal Medicine at NYU. With her certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Attina's clinical interests inlcude lifestyle medicine, general consultations, weight management advice, and pre-travel checkups. Additionally, as a native Italian speaker, Dr. Attina can communicate with patients in both English and Italian.
In her professional community, Dr. Attina is an active member of the American College of Physicians. She has also received several awards and grants while abroad, from countries including Japan, Spain, the UK, and Italy.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Attina conducted research during her time abroad as a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh Centre for Cardiovascular Sciences. She also spent a few years researching at NYU School of Medicine in the Division of Environmental Pediatrics. Dr. Attina's work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, with her most recent feature focusing on pediatric environmental health.
When speaking about her time as a physician, Dr. Attina explains, "Internal Medicine is challenging and rewarding because of its complexity and diversity, but I consider the privilege of sharing in the doctor-patient relationship the most fulfilling aspect of being a physician."
