Terry Thompson, DHA, MPH

About Me

Terry Thompson, DHA, MPH, is Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Medicine and Climate Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and a member of the department’s Division of Preventive Medicine and Community Health. His current research focuses on PM2.5 exposure and its effects on sleep outcomes in children, both in the PROGRESS cohort in Mexico and in East Harlem. More broadly, his research addresses community engagement, implementation science, and systems dynamics in the implementation and dissemination of report back, and CTSA initiatives in collaboration with Community Advisory Boards, community stakeholders, and academic professionals as they develop interventions for mitigating adverse sleep health. He is an active faculty member in the Mount Sinai Children's Environmental Health Center (CEHC), Region 2 Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (R2PEHSU), and the New York State Children's Environmental Health Centers (NYSCHECK), and a recipient of multiple funding awards from the National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences.

Dr. Thompson holds a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Public Health in Community Health and Prevention from Drexel University. He completed a two-year postdoctoral training at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Department of Environmental Medicine and Climate Science, with a focus on community engagement. He works closely with East Harlem schools, CBOs, and Community Advisory groups.
