
Tian Liu, PhD
About Me
Dr. Tian Liu joined Mount Sinai in 2022 as a Professor of Medical Physics and System Chief of Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology. She earned her PhD in Medical Physics from Columbia University in 2003 and has been an American Board of Radiology certified physicist in Therapeutic Medical Physics since 2002.
Dr. Liu's research revolves around improving patient care through technology innovation and practical solution. Her lab specializes in the development of quantitative ultrasound technologies to better understand and alleviate radiation-related side effects. She also has a keen interest in image-guided radiotherapy and the applications of AI in healthcare. Dr. Liu has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed journal papers and holds four patents in the fields of ultrasound and radiotherapy technologies.
Dr. Liu is a fellow of American Association of Physicists in Medicine and has served on many committees and task groups, including the Chair of the Ultrasound Subcommittee. She is dedicated to mentoring numerous trainees and junior faculty members, with a special focus on individuals from low- and middle-income countries.
