About Me
Dr. Valaine Hewitt has practiced Cardiology for more than 10 years. After completing her undergraduate studies at Columbia University, Dr. Hewitt graduated with her doctorate degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. She then completed both her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at NY Presbyterian Hospital before moving to Temple University School of Medicine for her Cardiology fellowship. With her board certifications in General Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, Dr. Hewitt specializes in preventative cardiology, women's cardiovascular health, and transesophageal echocardiography. Additionally, Dr. Hewitt is bilingual and can communicate with patients in both English and Spanish.
In conjunction with her clinical work, Dr. Hewitt has held different roles in clinical education settings, including instructor, tutor, and mentor. She has also been involved in multiple research initiatives in recent years, including telemedicine-based management of hyperlipidemia. Dr. Hewitt has had several publications in prestigious journals and won the peer-selected PA TopDocs Award of 2020 prior to joining Mount Sinai.
In her professional community, Dr. Hewitt is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and the American Society of Echocardiography.
