Varun Pawar, MD
Ophthalmology (Eye)
About Me
Dr. Varun Pawar has practiced Ophthalmology since 2017. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Pawar graduated with his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He then completed his internship in Internal Medicine before moving to St. Louis University for his residency in Ophthalmology. To finish his training, Dr. Pawar completed a fellowship in Uveitis Ophthalmology with the Francis I. Proctor Foundation of UC San Francisco. With his certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Pawar specializes in eye inflammation (uveitis).
Before joining Mount Sinai in 2020, Dr. Pawar worked as a uveitis specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist in Chicago. Throughout his education and training, Dr. Pawar conducted extensive research that he now combines with his practice experience to treat and control underlying immune responses that affect the eyes. Currently, in addition to his clinical work, Dr. Pawar serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at The Icahn School of Medicine. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
When working with his patients, Dr. Pawar believes that consistency is crucial in treating chronic eye conditions. He also takes special care to build rapport with his each patient.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Pawar has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
