About Me
Dr. Vincent Carrao is the Chief of the Division of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital’s Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. He also serves as the Program Director of the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at Mount Sinai. He is on the Board of Directors for the New York State Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Carrao also oversees the hospital’s surgical service for which he performs, supervises, and teaches a vast array of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures. The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery also houses a busy resident clinic and faculty practice for which Dr Carrao leads.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree at New York University, Dr. Carrao attended Columbia University’s dental school. Upon graduation from dental school he was accepted to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. As part of his oral and maxillofacial surgery training, he received his medical degree and completed a year of general surgery. Following graduation from his training program, Dr Carrao remained at Columbia University and New York Presbyterian Hospital for 15 years functioning as Associate Program Director of the residency program for 10 years. He then joined Mount Sinai in 2014 to lead the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital, part of the newly formed Mount Sinai Health System.
Dr Carrao practices the full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery. His areas of interest and expertise are orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial reconstruction, dental implants, TMJ, and cleft lip and palate.
