About Me
Vishal Kapur MD, FACC. FSCAI, RPVI Dr Vishal Kapur is a fully trained Interventional Cardiologist and Endovascular specialist at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and has an academic appointment as Associate Professor of Medicine. He started his medical journey by completing his medical school from University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi, India, one of the top ranked medical schools in India. He excelled during his medical school and was constantly ranked in the top 5% of his class. He then decided to pursue his medical career in the US and completed his Internal Medicine training from University of Texas Medical Branch, Texas. During his residency, his skills were duly recognized and he was nominated to Startmore's Whos Who for his outstanding performance in the field of medicine. Based on his meritorious record during his medicine residency, he was selected as the Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at Bridgeport Hospital/Yale University Program, CT. Dr Kapur's determination to be a Cardiologist was fulfilled when he joined Univ of Texas Medical Branch/ Methodist DeBakey Heart Center, Houston, Texas where he was trained under world renowned Cardiologists. During his training, he developed interest in Interventional Caridiology. During his cardiology fellowship training, Dr Kapur's hardwork and commitment were duly recognized and appreciated and he was awarded the prestigious "H Liston Beazley MD, Student Clinician of the Year Award". He then completed an Interventional Cardiology fellowship at one of the world renowned ivy league academic centers - Columbia University Medical Center under Drs Martin Leon and Greg Stone. This was followed by a dedicated extra year of training in Peripheral/ Endovascular Intervention at Columbia University Medical Center,NYC. He then joined Mt Sinai Medical Center as an Assistant Professor and specializes in Interventional Cardiology and Endovascular Interventions. Dr. Kapur has also earned and maintained Board certifications in good standing and licenses evidencing his fitness to practice medicine and his determination to achieve excellence, including. He board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Medicine and Endovascular Medicine. He is also certified in Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography and American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). He licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Texas. Dr. Kapur has been elected Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Fellow of Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI). Dr Kapur has been academically involved in the the field of Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He has published numerous research articles in peer reviewed renowned medical journals and written book chapter. Dr Kapur has presented abstracts, posters and oral presentation and various local, national and international conferences. He has been a co-investigator in numerous clinical trials. Dr Vishal Kapur remains committed to the field of Cardiology and has an unrelenting dedication towards being a outstanding clinician, researcher and a teacher.
