About Me
William Atallah, MD, MPH specializes in endourology and the comprehensive treatment of kidney stones. Employing a diverse range of techniques, he addresses urinary stone issues with precision and effectiveness. His repertoire includes Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy, Ureteroscopy, Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy, and Mini-Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy. Dr. Atallah's approach is characterized by a commitment to tailored care, ensuring that each patient receives the most appropriate and advanced treatment for their specific condition.
Beyond treating kidney stones, Dr. Atallah places a strong emphasis on prevention through lifestyle modifications. Recognizing the importance of dietary factors in stone formation, he works closely with patients to implement changes that reduce the risk of recurrence. When necessary, he will offer medications necessary to aide in stone prevention. His holistic approach underscores a commitment to long-term patient well-being.
He received both his MD and MPH degrees at St. George’s University, located in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Atallah subsequently did his urology and general surgery residency at SUNY Downstate University Hospital. A fellowship in endourology was completed at the Mount Sinai Health System under world renowned Dr. Mantu Gupta, Director of Endourology and Stone Disease at Mount Sinai.
During his fellowship, he won 1st place in the Clinical Category of the Annual Essay Contest of the Endourological Society for his work: “A prospective randomized controlled trial comparing the efficacy of low-oxalate diet versus Vitamin B6 and magnesium supplementation versus both in idiopathic hyperoxaluria”. From there, with the help of his mentor, Dr Gupta, and research team, they have published their work in prestigious urological journals, including the Journal of Urology and Journal of Endourology. Notably, their contributions have not only expanded the scientific understanding of kidney stone disease but have also influenced clinical practice, leading to improved patient outcomes.
