
Youngwook Ahn, PhD
About Me
Youngwook Ahn, PhD is Scientific Director of Mouse Genetics and Gene Targeting CoRE facility and Associate Professor in the Departments of Cell, Developmental and Regenerative Biology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is primarily responsible for supporting Mount Sinai’s researchers with creation and utilization of mouse models utilizing the latest genome editing and transgenic technologies. He has over twenty years of experience in design, creation and characterization of genetically engineered mouse models with technical expertise in microinjection, implantation surgery, gene targeting in ES cells, assisted reproductive technology, mouse colony management and molecular assay development. Prior to Mount Sinai, he successfully established and managed mouse model generation services in diverse settings (CRO, academia & industry).
Dr. Ahn received his PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Microbiology from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park and trained as mouse developmental biologist in the laboratory of Robb Krumlauf, PhD at Stowers Institute for Medical Research.
