About Me
Dr. Yousef Elfanagely joined Mount Sinai in 2025 as a Gastroenterologist. After completing his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, Dr. Elfanagely earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He then completed both his residency and fellowship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, respectively. Dr. Elfanagely is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and is board-eligible in Gastroenterology. His clinical interests include general gastroenterology, GERD, Barrett's Esophagus, IBS, and colon cancer screening.
During his training, Dr. Elfanagely completed research in H. pylori, colon cancer screenings, and Barrett's Esophagus. He has also been published in several prestigious journals within his field, including the Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer, the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, and the Official Journal of the American College of Gastroenterology.
Outside of his time with patients, Dr. Elfanagely enjoys spending quality time with his wife and loved ones. He loves discovering great food and relaxing at the beach. Dr. Elfanagely also explains that he comes from a diverse background - his mother is Puerto Rican and his father is Egyptian - which has shaped his appreciation for different cultures and the unique qualities that make each person who they are.
