Yumi Kim, MD
Cancer (Oncology), Hematology-Oncology
About Me
Dr. Yumi Kim has practiced Oncologic Medicine for over 20 years and joined Mount Sinai in 2018. After completing her undergraduate studies at Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, Dr. Kim graduated with her medical degree from New York Medical College. She then moved to North Shore University Hospital for both her residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine and Hematology-Oncology, respectively. Dr. Kim is a triple board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology and can communicate with her patients in English and Korean. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kim has participated in multiple oncological studies.
When discussing her time in medicine, Dr. Kim describes her go-to statement for approaching patients as, "Treat your patients like you would treat your own family." She offers a friend-like setting where she maintains a supportive role while creating a personalized approach to patient care and management. One of her favorite aspects of her field is the innovative interventions that have paved the way to improve survival and quality of life for each patient. She describes how watching her patients survive and thrive longer has become a source of encouragement for her work in hematology and oncology. To keep her life balanced, Dr. Kim seeks out nature, including visiting US national parks and hiking trails in East Iceland, and she explores urban cultures of different countries. She enjoys ballet classes and equestrian horseback riding, but sometimes wishes she could be a better cook!

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. KIM has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
