About Me
Zachary Avigan, MD, MHS is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Tisch Cancer Center and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is a member of the physician team at the Center of Excellence for Multiple Myeloma and treats patients with plasma cell dyscrasias and related disorders, including Multiple Myeloma, Smoldering Myeloma, Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance (MGUS), AL Amyloidosis, Plasma Cell Leukemia, and Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia. Dr. Avigan sees patients at the Ruttenberg Treatment Center at Mount Sinai Hospital and at The Blavatnik Family – Chelsea Medical Center.
Dr. Avigan earned his MD from Yale School of Medicine, completed his Internal Medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mount Sinai, where he also served as Chief Fellow. His research focuses on understanding long-term remission and cure in multiple myeloma patients and on evaluating the unique responses and side effects from novel immune therapies. He has presented his work at international conferences and received multiple Young Investigator Awards in support of his research.
