Urology
About Me
Dr. Zachary Dovey (B.Sc. M.B.B.S. M.R.C.P. F.R.C.S. (SA) (Urol)) has practiced urology with Mount Sinai since 2018. Prior to his time in New York, Dr. Dovey qualified from St. Thomas’ Hospital Medical School in London, where he was awarded a United Kingdom Medical Research Council Scholarship to intercalate a B.Sc., as well as the Solly Medal Prize for Medicine and Surgery. He was subsequently trained in Urology in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Europe. To continue his international training, Dr. Dovey went on to complete his fellowship in Robotic Uro-Oncology in Europe (Belgium and Paris, France) and Cambridge University, before ultimately moving to Mount Sinai Hospital. With his certification by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Dovey currently acts as an Assistant Professor of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine, as well as an Attending Physician in the Department of Urology at Mount Sinai Queens.
Since moving to the US, Dr. Dovey has published over 50 papers and commentaries in reputable journals focused on prostate and bladder cancer, including diagnostics, surgical treatment, immunotherapy and lifestyle interventions, and also remains active in Research. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh), and holds Fellowship status in the Royal College of Surgeons (London) and the Colleges of South Africa with specialist accreditation for Urology in both.
Dr. Dovey's enjoyment for combining the application of medical principles with patient interactions is what ultimately led him to his role as a Urologist. Additionally, he understands the crucial importance that communication plays in patient care and the doctor-patient relationship. Outside of his time in the office, Dr. Dovey enjoys playing various sports, having represented the Medical School at Football, Rugby and Cricket, although apart from the occasional round of golf, he has now become more of a spectator. Post COVID, he also enjoys travelling and exploring New York State and the rest of the USA.
