About Me

Zainab Al-Ibraheemi, MD, is a faculty member in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside; in addition, she is an assistant professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Al-Ibraheemi earned her medical doctorate from the University of Baghdad College of Medicine and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Texas Tech University. While at Texas Tech, she was recipient of a substantial number of awards for her scholarship. She earned second place for her presentation at the 2011 Research Day, was honored for the highest exam scores in 2011 and 2012, and in 2014, won the awards for excellence in obstetrics, and for best in gynecology. In 2015, she was named special resident in minimally-invasive gynecology.

Dr. Al-Ibraheemi received training in maternal-fetal medicine at Mount Sinai West, graduating in 2017, and becoming a faculty member in the division at that time. She has participated in or led research in a broad scope of topics across the field of high-risk pregnancy. One of her key interests is prediction and prevention of preterm birth, including prevention by cerclage and by corticosteroids, and prediction by antenatal presence of cell-free fetal DNA. She has also studied methods of inducing labor and cervical ripening, including with the Foley bulb; medications for treatment of diabetes in pregnancy; and 35-37 week GBS cultures as a predictor of intrapartum GBS colonization.

She is a junior fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and the American Association for Gynecologic Laparoscopy.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
